Did someone say Subsonic Music Festival in Sydney? Hell yeeeees!
UPDATE: due to the ongoing bushfires Subsonic music festival has been postponed until further notice.
As I’m writing this the festival is only 17 days away, and I couldn’t be more excited. The people, the location, the artists… there are so many reasons I can’t wait for the weekend of December 6-8! And these are the 10 reasons I can’t wait for Subsonic to start.
1 – 200 artists, 5 stages, 3 days
Subsonic is one of the biggest Australian festivals of the year, and with 200 artists, 5 stages and three days of dancing you can be sure there’ll never be a dull moment. Now let’s see how I’m going to decide which stage I’m going to at what time…
2 – At Subsonic they care about sustainability
And if know me, you know I do too. It all starts with doing your bit to help. Bring your own reusable (coffee) cup/water bottle to the festival, bring a metal or bamboo straw and bring your own cutlery.
All stallholders at Subsonic will be serving food and drinks on compostable cutlery, and they compost everything on site. There will be several filtered water stations throughout the festival for you to fill up your reusable bottle
3. Sonic Village
Subsonic isn’t just a music festival. At the heart of their festival you’ll find the Subsonic Lifestyle Village. This is where creativity blooms, where likeminded people meet and where you can join in on creative workshops, yoga, live art and more.
You’ll probably find me in the Sonic Lounge, a luxurious and laid back chill space, sipping on a chai tea and reviving before I show off my (terrible) dance skills again.
4 – There’s a Sanctuary Healing Space
From Friday to Sunday you can enjoy treatments in the Sanctuary Healing Space. Massages, reiki, shamanic work to guided meditation – you’ll feel like a new person after visiting the Sanctuary Healing Space.
5 – No phone signal
If you’re a workaholic or social media addict this might cause you a little anxiety attack, but you’ll soon discover there is nothing as liberating as not being tied to your phone all the time. Subsonic is located at the Riverwood Downs Mountain Valley Resort. Aka in the middle of nowhere, without phone signal 😉
6 – The perfect escape from the city
Not only is Subsonic great if you’re a music lover who just can’t control their feet, it is also the perfect getaway from the city. Around the festival you’ll find 95,000 hectares of unspoilt wilderness, where you can hike, relax and unwind. If you feel like chilling for a bit, why not stay at the campsite where you’ll also find a beautiful river to swim in.
7 – There’s something for everyone
No matter your taste in music, Subsonic has something in store for everyone. This years line up is one of their biggest line ups to date, and it is the fusion of old-school meets new-school; smashing legends and underground risers. For a full line up, please click here.
8 – Camping is fun!
Even though I can be quite the diva, I absolutely love going back to basic and camp in the wilderness. There’s nothing better than being surrounded by friends and nature.
If camping is not 100% your thing but you don’t want to miss out on the festival, perhaps one of the glamping or bunkhouse cabins might be a good option for you 🙂
9 – No cash, no drama. It’s a cashless festival!
Which means you don’t have to worry about cash or your wallet = less things to lose! It also saves you a lot of time, as there’ll be a reduced need to wait in lines and you don’t have to count your coins when you’re planning to get another beer.
As soon as you arrive at the festival you’ll receive a wristband which will be your digital wallet for the entirety of the event.
10 – You get to dress up!
Now let’s be honest, who doesn’t love to dress up?! I sure do! Nothing is too crazy or too much at Subsonic. Dust off your feathers, throw on some glitter and go!
Subsonic is already on their final release, so if you don’t want to miss out on the festival of the year I suggest you get your tickets soon. See you there! 🙂
