It’s been quite a while since I wrote my latest blog. I’m not in Bundaberg to do farmwork anymore, but now back in Sydney – Bondi. I’ll tell you why…
A hellhole called Bundaberg
Bundaberg was quite a depressing place. It is known worldwide for its delicious ginger beer and rum, but I’ll always remember it as farming hell. The farmers weren’t nice, the working hostels were dirty, run down places and the people you work for just lead you on. I’ll dedicate another blog to why not to go farming in Bundaberg, so make sure you check back soon;)

Because I was unable to earn the big bucks in Bundaberg, I decided to go back to Sydney to find a job, so I could finally start saving some money. I contacted my friend Jan who lives in Bondi, and he told me that at his job they were looking for Dutchies to work at a customer service. Also, there was a room vacant in the house he lived in, so if I wanted I could move in. Yay! I applied for the job, got an interview, booked a ticket and left miserable Bundy.

The day after I went for the job interview I heard I got the job – yaaay! And two days later I moved into my new room in Bondi. The house is located only
a 5-10 minute walk from the beach, and only 15 minutes by bus to my work – perfect! I live with people from all over the globe: some Dutchies, Belgians, people from Brazil, Italy, Denmark – everywhere! It’s good fun living in such an international house 🙂
So what’s next?
The plan is to live and work in Bondi for the next few months, in order to save up a little money. After that I’d like to go to Fiji and Samoa for a few weeks, and then back to Aussie to travel up the East Coast. But you never know, these plans could always change 🙂 And for those who know me and who are wondering what about my new love: he’s travelling in Thailand and NZ now, but will be back in Sydney at the end of June. God I miss him…
