My first weekend of 2020 couldn’t have started better, as I had the privilege to stay at Melbourne’s most beautiful hotel: Pan Pacific Melbourne. If you’re looking for a luxury, sustainable hotel that also offers mouthwatering food, then Pan Pacific is the right choice for you.
Sustainability? Yes please!
If you’ve been following the news lately, you might have seen that Australia is suffering greatly because of the current bushfires. Now more than ever, it is important we fight the battle against climate change, starting with becoming more sustainable ourselves.
Pan Pacific Melbourne takes the lead in sustainability, and started a few wonderful initiatives to save our beautiful planet. They don’t offer any plastic drinking bottles, for example, but instead encourage guests to drink the filtered tap water. You also won’t find any garbage bags in the bins around your room, saving oh so much plastic.
Good food = great mood
There is one thing that always gets me particularly excited about hotel stays: the food. Strolling past the breakfast buffet or studying the menu – it’s what I do best.
I’m not exaggerating when I say the breakfast buffet at Pan Pacific is by far the best I ever had in Australia. The options are endless, and even if you’re a vegetarian like me there are tons of different dishes to choose from.
For example, you can design your own omelette. You can create your own muesli. And you can even juice your own healthy juice – including (for hotels) unusual ingredients like celery.
I’m usually an oatmeal-for-breakky kinda gal, but with all the delicious and tempting options at Pan Pacific Melbourne I also opted for pancakes, waffles, eggs, coconut parfait, croissants and more. Safe to say I gained a kilo or two during my stay 😉
Moor at Dock 37
Dock 37, where breakky is served as well, is also a great spot for dinner. It is a must-go if you love Italian food (but seriously, who doesn’t?)
We had dinner at Dock 37 the first night we arrived. And as a vegetarian I was again very pleased with the different options available.
If there’s one thing I really miss in Australia, but which is fairly common in Europe, is the complimentary bread you get in a lot of Italian restaurants. You can imagine how excited I was when we were treated to delicious bread with olive oil & salt and yummy garlic butter.
After devouring the most delicious cheeses, the best potatoes I’ve had in a while and our mouthwatering mains we were completely full. I wish I could tell you about the delicious deserts at Dock 37, but as there was simply no space in my tummy left because of all the amazing food, I’ll have to get back to you on that one 😉
Can we talk about that view though?
“This is insane!” “Look at that view!” “Omg that bath tub!” “Have you seen this!?” “That shower is so big!” “Wow the view just continues!” Where are you?!” – these are a few of the first things my friend and I excitedly yelled at each other when we first entered the hotel room at Pan Pacific Melbourne.
We had the privilege of staying in the Panoramic Suite. As the name already reveals this room gives you insanely beautiful 180 degrees views over the Yarra River and Melbourne’s skyline. And if the day view wasn’t already stunning enough, seeing the night take over was even more magical. We slept with the curtains open for two nights. Drifting off with while looking at the city lights was an experience like no other.
Visiting Melbourne again is already one of my highlights of 2020, and staying at Pan Pacific Melbourne made this an absolutely unforgettable trip.
