I’ve been to Bangkok quite a few times before, but I always stayed in the old center, close to Khao San Road and the famous temples. This time around we decided to do things differently, and stay in (to us) more unknown areas. I learnt that these areas are full of surprises…
Sightseeing in Sukhumvit
Our first stop was Sukhumvit. After some hostel hopping in Krabi we were des
perate for a bit more luxury, so we booked a hotel. It was only until we arrived here that we discovered this hotel was located on a very, very busy road. Kat was not feeling well, so when I went out exploring on my own I was asking myself where the hell we’d end up. Soon I found a nice little coffee bar where I had my daily dose of Latte.
After that I walked around a little more and found this nice little square which looked very promising for the night. The next night we went back and I was right: there was a nice little foodmarket going on (for the Dutchies: like De Rollende Keukens) where you could eat anything, from Sushi, Mexican, Thai, Burgers, etc – all whilst enjoying a nice cold beer. Because ‘white beer’ (witbier), my favorite beer of all, is nowhere to be found outside of Belgium/The Netherlands I was thrilled to see they served it here, at a random place in Bangkok! With full bellies, happy and a slightly tipsy we left 🙂 If you’d like to go to this food market, go to Sukhumvit soi 46. The food market is then located right behind the Tom ‘n Toms coffee.
Sophistication in Siam
Our next stop was the lively neighborhood Siam. We had the honor to be guests at Siam@Siam, a beautiful design hotel located in the heart of Bangkok. Our room had a breathtaking view from where we could see almost every little building of the Thai capital. The spacious room also featured a big comfy double bed, a soft sofa to relax on and a beautiful bathroom with a bathtub which could easily fit the both of us.
I would’ve stayed in the room all day if there wasn’t much more to see. Siam@Siam is currently developing new rooms at the 10th floor called ‘The Heritage‘. These rooms aren’t open to the public yet, but we had the privilege to take little peak! And it looked absolutely amazing, see for yourself:
If you feel like a swim, you’re also at the right place at Siam@Siam. On the 11th floor you’ll find a breathtaking infinity pool from where you also have a great view on Bangkoks skyline. And when dusk turns into dawn make sure you head over to the amazing rooftop where you have stunning 360 degrees views over the whole city.
Our next stop is Koh Chang, something I’m particularly excited about because I haven’t visited that part of Thailand yet. We’re going to stay in an amazing resort, so stay tuned and don’t forget to follow me on social! 🙂
